ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT (OE): The OE period for the 2020-2021 school year will be December 3rd - 9th, 2019. During OE, Leman Academy of Excellence (LAE) shall accept online applications for all eligible scholars. When the OE period ends, the total number of applicants submitting completed enrollment forms will be determined and compared to the open seats (capacity) in each grade level. This process determines which grades are undersubscribed and which grades are oversubscribed.

LAE shall admit all eligible scholars in undersubscribed grade levels on a rolling basis until the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a grade level, after which point a waitlist will begin. Both acceptances and waitlist positions will function on a first-come, first-served basis following the close of OE.

LOTTERY PROCEDURES DURING OPEN ENROLLMENT (OE):
Grade levels whose applications during OE exceed the number of available openings (oversubscribed) will be included in a lottery, which will take place the week following the close of the OE period. Only applications received during the OE period will be included in the lottery. Parents will be notified via email within two weeks of the lottery whether their scholar has been admitted or has been placed on a waitlist.

During the lottery process, enrollment preferences, which are aligned with A.R.S. 15-184, will be given to scholars who meet the following criteria in the order listed:

  • Scholars who are children, grandchildren, or legal wards of:

1. Employees of the school or charter holder
2. Members of the governing board of the school
3. Directors, officers, partners, or board members of the charter holder

  • Existing Leman Academy scholars who are transferring to another Leman Academy campus
(note: scholars must complete the year at their current Leman campus in order to be eligible
for priority status at a different Leman location)
  • Siblings of a current LAE scholar (note: If two or more siblings submit completed registration packets during the OE period and one of the siblings is randomly selected by lottery for enrollment, the other sibling(s) will be placed on the priority waitlist for the given grade level(s).

Kindergarten According to the Arizona Education Code 15-821 (C), “a child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if the child is five years of age. A child is deemed five years of age if the child reached the age of five before September 1 of the current school year… The governing board may admit children who have not reached the required age as prescribed by this subsection if it is determined to be in the best interest of the children. Such children must reach the required age of five for kindergarten…by January 1 of the current school year.” Contact the school for specific information about their admission policy.
